Randy Wooten figured he would get at least one vote in his bid for mayor of this town of 80 people — even if it was just his own.

He did not. Now he has to decide whether to file a formal protest.

Wooten got the news from his wife, Roxanne, who went to City Hall on Wednesday to see the election results.

“She saw my name with zero votes by it. She came home and asked me if I had voted for myself or not. I told her I did,” said Wooten, owner of a local bar.

And we find yet another strong argument against voting machines.

“It’s our understanding from talking with the secretary of state’s office that a court order would have to be obtained in order to open the machine and check the totals,” Payne said. “The votes were cast on an electronic voting machine, but paper ballots were available.”

No word as to whether or not the machine was a Diebold or not.

The elk was probably eating fermented apples in a garden and had become inebriated, Caiman said.

Elk can weigh as much as 500 kilos (1,100 lb) and personnel at the school described the erratic male as “completely mad”.

“The children are really scared,” the receptionist at the school near Molndal in southern Sweden told the Gothenburg Post.

Sometimes I’m a loss for words.

Sixteen-year-old Ang Chuang Yang typed the SMS (short message service) message in 41.52 seconds, beating the previous record of 42.22 seconds set by American Ben Cook in July, according to Singapore Telecommunications, organisers of the competition.

“I’ll try for 39 seconds next year,” said Ang, adding that the trick to speedy text messaging was to use a mobile phone with larger keys on the dial pad.

Dare to dream my friend, dare to dream.

Moments like this make ya almost wish you had signed up to serve with the Canadian Forces.

Canadian troops fighting Taliban militants in Afghanistan have stumbled across an unexpected and potent enemy — almost impenetrable forests of marijuana plants 10 feet tall.

General Rick Hillier, chief of the Canadian defense staff, said Thursday that Taliban fighters were using the forests as cover. In response, the crew of at least one armored car had camouflaged their vehicle with marijuana.

I am a proud Canadian.

Now see, I heard about this from a couple of people. I seriously thought they were blowing smoke.

Abel Gonzales, 36, a computer analyst from Dallas, tried about 15 different varieties before coming up with his perfect recipe — a batter mix made with Coca-Cola syrup, a drizzle of strawberry syrup, and some strawberries.

Balls of the batter are then deep-fried, ending up like ping-pong ball sized doughnuts which are then served in a cup, topped with Coca-Cola syrup, whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and a cherry on the top.

How wrong I was.

There are no words….

The thorny question rocked Italy’s lower house, home to Europe’s first transvestite MP, on Friday.

“You can’t use this lavatory. This is the women’s bathroom,” Vladimir Luxuria reported being told by centre-right lawmaker Elisabetta Gardini on Friday, triggering a spat that forced the speaker of parliament to intervene.

I’m glad it’s Friday.

This is rather amusing. It speaks a great deal to the need to be sure what your kids are doing online.

Jack Neal briefly became the proud owner of a pink convertible car after he managed to buy it for 9,000 pounds on the Internet despite being only three years old.

Jack’s mother told the BBC she had left her password for the eBay auction site in her computer and her son used the “buy it now” option to complete the purchase.
